Release of the 3rd promotion of the G5 Sahel Defense College
On July 15, the G5 Sahel Defense College organized the graduation ceremony for the 3rd promotion which has just completed its training cycle.
This ceremony took place under the joint supervision of the Minister Delegate of the National Defense Council and Veterans of Chad, Mr. Daoud Yahya Ibrahim, current President of the Council of Defense Ministers of the G5 Sahel, the Minister of Defense National, Mr. Hanena ould Sidi and General of Division Mohamed Bamba Meguett, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
The promotion is made up of 44 officers who have undergone extensive training in various areas of defense during the 2020-2021 academic year.
In addition to officers from G5Sahel member states, this promotion includes, for the first time, officers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In a speech delivered on this occasion, the Chadian Minister of Defense praised the role that Mauritania has played and still plays within the framework of the G5 Sahel in general, through the establishment of this important military college, as well as other institutions that pool the efforts of the 5 countries to face common challenges.
This college, he added, is a living witness to the cooperation of the G5 and its partners to raise the level of preparation and training of the armies, which is the most important basis for dealing with risks. safe.
Finally, the Minister hailed the strong political will of the G5 leaders, which materialized through this distinguished scientific building, which represents a self-regional higher education tool that seeks to fill the existing deficit in human resources and offers a tool for understanding and exchange between the different armies of the Group's countries.
For his part, Major General Ibrahim Val ould Ceibani, Director of the G5 Sahel Defense College, underlined the importance of the steps taken by the CDG5S thanks to the support of the United Arab Emirates and other partners who have made this achievement possible. .
Work is currently continuing to develop this military scientific institution and strengthen its capacities and profitability for the training of military skills of the armies of the G5 Sahel group, he mentioned.
For their part, the Director of Instruction of CDG5S and the spokesperson for the 3rd promotion of CDG5S graduates, welcomed the achievements made, in particular during the academic year 2020-2021.
They also expressed their gratitude for all the interest and care they received throughout the academic year.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Chiefs of Staff of the Gendarmerie and the National Guard, the heads of offices and directions of EMGA, in addition to ambassadors of the countries that support the G5 Sahel, as well as representatives of the partners of this organization and a large number of guests.
